What would you do if you were one minute away from losing your arm, and possibly your purpose?

On a narrow road in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, a flash of blinding light changed Mark Burnett’s life forever. His car flipped. His right arm was nearly torn from his body, held on by skin. In shock, in pain, and left unattended for nearly 24 hours, Mark faced a devastating reality. Doctors shook their heads. Amputation seemed inevitable.

But on a hospital floor, with impurities in his wound and uncertainty in his future, something deeper rose inside him. A microscopic feeling in his arm. A stubborn belief in possibility. A servant’s heart that refused to surrender.

Mark, an engineer by training and a community servant by calling, did something unexpected. He advocated for himself. He challenged the prognosis. He asked medical professionals to explore possibilities instead of accepting defeat. That resilience led him to a final hospital where one doctor looked at him and said, “You’re here for a reason.” One minute later, the arm would have been gone.

Six months of recovery followed. Trial and error. Teamwork. Faith. Optimism. Mark fed the energy of the medical team as much as they treated him. He chose hope over despair. Purpose over pity. Service over self.

Today, Mark travels across the Caribbean and beyond, helping organizations deliver complex projects with confidence. Through Econo Projects, he empowers value creation and teaches that project management is not just a profession. It is a life skill. Every goal, every dream, every transformation is a project that requires resilience, clarity, and human connection.

This conversation is about more than survival. It is about soul power. It is about the unseen force that connects us across countries, cultures, and crises. It is about choosing to serve even when you are the one bleeding.

If you have faced trauma, doubt, or a moment when the world said it was over, this episode will remind you that your setback may be the very lesson that prepares you to empower others.

Your pain may be your platform. Your fight may be someone else’s future.

P.S. If this story moved you, share it with someone who is in the middle of their own battle. Your share could be the reminder they need that they are one decision away from hope.
